I wasn't wanting to invest in the Wilton Paisley pans, but I couldn't get the shape out of my head for the palette. So off to Michaels I went with my 50% coupon and purchased them. They were much easier to bake and cover with fondant that I was expecting.
Everything is made from fondant except the easel, canvas, and brushes. Those were a Dollarama purchase. And again I used my new silicone mold for the beads along the bottom. Man I love that thing. I hope they come out with a ton more.
Usually I plan and draw out my cakes so I know what direction to take. I didn't with this one. I'm not sure why, but somehow I knew it would come to me when the time was right. So I did this one on the fly. And as I was putting each element together, I 'saw' what needed to go on next. It was a very enjoyable cake to make and surprisingly only took me about 3 hours to decorate rather than the usual 6 or more.
Happy Birthday, Zizi! I'm honoured to be chosen to make your day even more special.
